(This is a 2-part class and both dates are mandatory to attend)
PART 1:
In-person classroom
Thursday, February 19
6:00PM – 10:00PM
PART 2:
In-person classroom & range
Saturday, February 21
9:00AM – 9:30PM (*7:30AM start for those doing the optional multi-state portion)
Classroom location for Thursday evening and Saturday morning:
130 N. Marina
Long Beach, CA 90803
(Our office is inside the building “I WALK Free”. If you park in the south portion of the parking lot near the Ballast Point Brewing Company, you’ll see a blue building to the right of the brewery with the sign “Moore Institute Plastic Pollution Research & Learning Center”. Walk between these two buildings toward the water and you’ll find our building, #130, on the right.)
Range location for later on Saturday:
FT3 Tactical
8230 Electric Ave
Stanton, CA 90680
(Parking can be challenging, but if nothing is open in the range’s lot, there’s also a back area behind the gate that has available spots as long as it’s not marked as “tow away zone”. The paint store next door also has spots open. Even though it says “no parking”, their store is closed by the time we’ll get there and they will not tow.)
This is an “In-Person” CCW class for those needing to fulfill the training requirement for a California Concealed Firearm Permit. This class meets the 16-hour curriculum requirements in accordance with new laws passed in Senate Bill 2. This course is currently approved by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and several other city police departments within Los Angeles County (please check with us as to which ones before registering). The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and LAPD currently require their CCW classes to be taught “in-person”, so this class fulfills that requirement.
The mandatory 16-hour minimum curriculum for this CCW course is completed in 2 parts. LASD no longer allows any part of this class to be taught remotely by video. Consequently, both parts are taught “in-person” at our classrooms in Long Beach, Garden Grove, or Costa Mesa. The second day of class will conclude with us completing the live fire range qualification in the evening. The basic details are found by clicking on the “Class Details” tab to the side of this box. Please read ALL of the tabs regarding what to expect from class, what to bring, and the terms for cancellation or rescheduling.
Also, please carefully read the options for adding the optional “multi-state CCW” qualification and for the optional fingerprinting as it can be somewhat confusing if you select the options without reading them first. The multi-state portion is generally taught the day of our in-person portion of class and usually starts an hour and a half before everyone else arrives. After registration, be on the lookout for an email a few days before class with the final details and anything that might change before your scheduled date.
If you’re interested in a private or semi-private group class, please contact us. Generally, the cost for one person (within Orange County) is $950, but the rates go down with each additional person added. This is based on breaking the class into one partial day and one full-day “in-person” classroom instruction. The classroom portion can be taught at your home or office or at our classroom in Huntington Beach. If you’re applying through Orange or San Diego Counties, you also have the option of doing your classroom portion at your own pace through our online webinar. Some cities in Los Angeles county may also accept this version of the class, but currently the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and LAPD do not as their classes must be taught all in-person or by live video. Once you’re finished with the online modules, you can schedule a private session to finish up the practical portions and range qualification. The cost for one person using this option is $450. There’s an extra surcharge for travel time and fuel if you’d like us to travel to you outside of Orange County. Scheduling is generally flexible on weekdays.
Eye and Ear Protection
It’s highly advisable that you bring your own eye and ear protection on our range day. Some of the ranges we use no longer lend out this equipment and you may have no option but to buy it there at the range if you don’t have your own. For your convenience, you’ll see options at checkout to purchase these items with your class and we’ll have it here waiting for you. We carry the AXIL line of hearing protection. AXIL started out as a hearing aid company so the quality of their electronic protection is the top in the industry. There’s options for their standard “passive” ear muffs providing 32 dB of protection to electronic noise suppression ear muffs and ear buds that amplify ambient noises (such as range instructions and conversations), while at the same time suppressing any noises above 85 dB. The most advanced of their ear muffs and ear buds also have Bluetooth integrated within them so you can answer phone calls and listen to music from your phone without taking them off. You can learn more about each of these products through the company’s website below, but purchase them through us and you’ll get a much better discount. We also carry good quality Bollé safety eye glasses that you can add to your cart.
Please go to this LINK to purchase these items, but these discounts are only available for registered students and not the general public. Please let us know if you have any questions!
