Description

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE REGISTERING:

This is an “Online Classroom” CCW class, also referred to as “Blending Learning”, for those needing to fulfill the training requirement for a California Concealed Firearm Permit.  This version of the class allows non-resident California CCW applicants (those living in states other than California) to meet the classroom training requirements to obtain a California CCW and to do so remotely by completing an online video course.  In California, CCW permits are issued by local authorities such as county sheriffs- and in some counties, they are issued through city police departments.  The California permit, no matter the issuing agency, is valid throughout the state of California.  Due to a district court ruling, the California CCW is now available to obtain by non-Californians.  Non-residents with the permit now enjoy the same privileges as residents to carry a concealed firearm while visiting California.  Currently, a standard California CCW is valid for 2-years and the process to obtain a permit is quite simple.  However, each issuing agency decides which firearms instruction providers are approved to teach their curriculum.  Hansen Firearms Training is currently approved to provide training for the following jurisdictions:

Orange County,
San Diego County,
Los Angeles County (through the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department); and
Multiple city police departments that do their own issuing within L.A. County (such as LAPD, Long Beach, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Glendora, etc.)

If you happen to be in California when one of our full in-person or blended learning classes are being taught, we encourage you to attend in person by going back to the course page and registering for a class date.  By attending in person, we’ll be able to finish your live fire qualification and sign you off for everything that’s required for your training.  If however you’d like to complete your whole training from your home state, this course will satisfy the classroom portion.  You must then find a local instructor in your home state to administer the live fire qualification.  Each California CCW issuing agency will have a policy as to the credentials your local instructor must have and the course of fire they must administer.  The jurisdictions we serve however, will not allow out-of-state instructors to teach the classroom portion of the class.  Our goal is to become your one-stop shop for your whole CCW training requirement.  Consequently, if you’re not able to join us for the class in Southern California, we do plan on creating a network of approved instructors in your state to fulfill the live fire requirement or there’s a possibility we may personally travel to your state to conduct the training as demand dictates.  On the checkout page, make sure you indicate your interest in having us come to you for an extra fee, so we can gauge interest and keep a list.

The online classroom course consists of more than 15 hours of video instruction, quizzes, and a final test.  The California minimum number of required hours for an initial permit is 16 hours.  The remaining hour of the mandatory training is fulfilled when you complete your live fire qualification with an instructor local to you. . . or if we or if we ourselves teach you in-person.  Eventually, all California agencies must accept a remote version of CCW instruction.  Currently, Orange and San Diego Counties are already set-up and approves of our online course.  Los Angeles will soon approve online training as well, but please check with us before registering if you’re applying through those counties.  You may have several questions as to how to apply for the non-resident CCW.  We’re here to help!  We encourage you first however to watch the video above before contacting us because it may answer all of your questions.  Please also make sure to read the terms and conditions tab below to make sure you understand our refund policy.

Class Details

This course material has been approved by the sheriff’s departments listed as acceptable in meeting the training requirements for Initial and Renewal CCW applicants.  Otherwise, there is no affiliation with their respective agencies.  We’re not employed by them, nor do they endorse any specific training provider.

Classroom and Range

In California, you must have at least one handgun listed on your CCW license and you may only carry the guns listed on your license.  If you do not yet have a handgun, you cannot complete the CCW course or be granted a permit.  Completing this online course is one of two required parts to obtaining the required training.  The second part is to schedule a live fire range qualification, at your own cost, with an instructor local to where you live.  The issuing California sheriff or police department will inform you what credentials the firearms instructor must have to conduct the live fire test.  You will then upload to the California issuing agency, our classroom curriculum completion certificate with the live fire qualification certificate from you local instructor.

Terms & Conditions

When do I take the class?

Different counties have different requirements as to when this course can be taken in the application process and how long it is deemed valid.  Currently, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department no longer requires you to be pre-approved to take your training class.  In fact, you may take the class up to 6 months before you apply for the permit.  San Diego will accept the class as valid for 90 days, but they would like you to wait until after you interview is done and you’ve received a conditional approval.  Although wait times in most counties are moving much faster and you should have time to complete the process in the window when the class is still valid, we still can’t guarantee the county sheriffs or DOJ background processing will be done by then.

We DO NOT offer a refund if you take the class and are later rejected for any reason in the application process.  We cannot guarantee that any applicant will be granted a license.  If you have a clean criminal background, most counties have a very high success rate of 98% or more for approvals, but nevertheless, they cannot compel you to take the class before a conditional approval.

Cancellation policy

If you’re taking an Online “Blended-Learning” class, we do allow full cancellation and refund (minus any processing fees that the credit card company will not return to us) within 24 hours of purchasing.  Cancellations made beyond 24 hours of your purchase will be counted as credit toward a future class, except in rare emergency situations. Additionally, no cancellations will be refunded if the purchase is made within 72 hours of the start of any in-person portion of a course.  Please understand that we rely on dependable attendance in order to offer the low rates we do.  We cannot issue refunds for classes purchased beyond 5 months due to credit card processing fees and changing operating costs.

Finally, in regards to the Online “Blended-Learning” classes, these courses involve considerable overhead in time and production resources to host online and maintain.  Just like any other e-learning course, students are participating in receiving useful knowledge and instruction, which is compiled from several professional training sources.  When a student begins viewing the e-learning course, they’re being provided a service (training and expertise).  The valid transaction of paying for and accepting this training is not contingent on whether the student chooses whether or not to apply for a CCW license, is ultimately granted a license, fails the course, or makes an error in taking the correct class.  While we hope that students find the information useful (most are successful in obtaining a CCW), how a student uses or doesn’t use the course is outside of our control.  Understand that e-learning instruction is viewed in the same manner as an “all in-person” course that imparts knowledge in a physical classroom.  Consequently, refunds cannot be offered for online courses where the student has already begun viewing the content.  Before starting, please ensure that you’re taking the correct course and that it serves your intended purpose.
