Description
Range Day- February 20, 2026
California Initial CCW Course (in-person portion) 6:00PM – 10:00PM
(Optional multi-state class will start at 4:30PM – 5:30PM)
Physical Classroom: (This is where we’ll start on the range day)
13252 Garden Grove Blvd., Suite 216
Garden Grove, CA, 92843
(You can park in the open lot next to the building or in the garage underneath the complex. If you park underneath however, please don’t park in stalls marked as “reserved”. Take the stairs or elevator to the 2nd floor.)
Range: (This is where we’ll drive to at about 7:30PM)
FT3 Tactical
8230 Electric Ave
Stanton, CA 90680
(Parking can be challenging, but if nothing is open in the range’s lot, there’s also a back area behind the gate that has available spots as long as it’s not marked as “tow away zone”. The paint store next door also has spots open. Even though it says “no parking”, their store is closed by the time we’ll get there and they will not tow.)
This is an “Online Classroom” CCW class, also referred to as “Blending Learning”, for those needing to fulfill the training requirement for a California Concealed Firearm Permit. The Blended Learning option allows CCW applicants to take nearly all their required classroom training online. The Initial CCW curriculum consists of 19 online modules and a few quizzes. After completing the online training, you’ll join us at our physical classroom on the date you’ve chosen (details can be found below). In the physical classroom you’ll complete a few practical exercises, we’ll have a Q & A to clarify any content from the online course, and then you’ll take the written test. From there we’ll head to the shooting range where you’ll complete the live fire qualification with the guns you’re adding to your permit. This is where we’ll sign your course certificate, fulfilling the 16-hour state training requirement.
There are several advantages to taking your CCW class in the Blended Learning format. Even though we need you to commit to a specific range day, you can watch the online training videos at your own convenience and from the comfort of your home. The only constraint is that you must have the online training completed before coming to the physical classroom and range date.
Another advantage to online training is that we’ve included a Bonus Section of several videos available for you to watch at no additional cost. While we feel that this additional material addresses very important CCW concepts, this section is not mandatory to view. When the core 19 modules that you are required to watch are combined with our in-person practical exercises, the course meets and exceeds the mandatory 16-hour curriculum required by California law. The videos themselves total over 14 hours of instruction.
The course is currently approved by Orange County, San Diego County, and some city police departments within Los Angeles. Unfortunately however, at this time the online format is NOT approved by the Los Angeles County Sheriff and some city PDs within Los Angeles County. If you are applying for your license through the LAPD or the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, do NOT register for this version of the class. We are approved to teach the course for the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff, but the instruction must be done in-person. Consequently, please look to see if a public “in-person” class is scheduled. The cost is $350.
Sign-up Options
The basic details are found by clicking on the “Class Details” tab to the side of this box. Please read ALL of the tabs regarding what to expect from class, what to bring, and the terms for cancellation or rescheduling.
Also, please carefully read the options for adding the optional “multi-state CCW” qualification and for the optional fingerprinting as it can be somewhat confusing if you select the options without reading them first. After registration, be on the lookout for an email a few days before class with the final details and anything that might change before your scheduled date.
If you’re interested in a private or semi-private group class, please contact us. Generally, the cost for one person to take an “in-person” private class (within Orange County) is $950. The rates go down with each additional person added. In order to cover the 16-hour curriculum, the in-person course requires one full-day and a second half-day of classroom instruction. The classroom portion can be taught at your home or office or at our classrooms in Long Beach or Garden Grove. If you’d like us to travel to your location for both days of classroom instruction, there’s a $100 travel surcharge added. If you’d like us to travel to your location in San Diego or Los Angeles, the travel surcharge is $200 per day.
Finally, if you’re doing the classroom portion online but want to schedule a private session to finish up the practical portions and range qualification, then please do not sign up here. Go back to the course page and choose the option for a Private Online course for $450. There’s an extra $200 surcharge for travel time and fuel if you’d like us to travel to you in San Diego or Los Angeles (if your issuing agency approves of the online course). Scheduling is generally flexible on weekdays.
Eye and Ear Protection
It’s highly advisable that you bring your own eye and ear protection on our range day. Some of the ranges we use no longer lend out this equipment and you may have no option but to buy it there at the range if you don’t have your own. For your convenience, you’ll see options at checkout to purchase these items with your class and we’ll have it here waiting for you. We carry the AXIL line of hearing protection. AXIL started out as a hearing aid company so the quality of their electronic protection is the top in the industry. There’s options for their standard “passive” ear muffs providing 32 dB of protection to electronic noise suppression ear muffs and ear buds that amplify ambient noises (such as range instructions and conversations), while at the same time suppressing any noises above 85 dB. The most advanced of their ear muffs and ear buds also have Bluetooth integrated within them so you can answer phone calls and listen to music from your phone without taking them off. You can learn more about each of these products through the company’s website below, but purchase them through us and you’ll get a much better discount. We also carry good quality Bollé safety eye glasses that you can add to your cart.
Please go to this LINK to purchase these items, but these discounts are only available for registered students and not the general public. Please let us know if you have any questions!
